MMM! I love Thanksgiving! One thing hard about being overseas last year was not having family around during the holidays, especially Thanksgiving. We had our Thanksgiving retreat the weekend of Thanksgiving, but it just wasn't the same and didn't feel like... well, like Thanksgiving to me. So one of the girls invited us all over to her flat the following weekend and we had a "true" Thanksgiving with too many people in the kitchen and everyone in the way and total and utter chaos. It was awesome.
This year, it's what I was most looking forward to, and it didn't disappoint. With 30 people, approximately 20 of them American Teachers and 10 Czech friends/students/roommates, we had tons of people to help, get in the way and lazily sit around doing nothing.
Kaddy is the cook. She loves this cuz she can be bossy and order everyone around and they do what she asks! :) She managed to organize around 30 people, 2 turkeys and tons of food in a rather tiny flat. But we had a blast!
I was the lucky person who not only got to fold napkins, but I also was in charge of carving the turkey. That was an experience, let me tell you. Aprons were not abundant, so I got to use an old tablecloth instead. I cannot tell you how many pictures were taken, but I did an awesome job carving thanks to my Daddy's 10 minute lesson this summer on how to carve a turkey.
If I return next year, I'm going to miss this tradition. Not sure if any of the new people will enjoy cooking as much as Kaddy does.
